President Bush did a pretty neat job of convincing the world of who is the bigger threat but to persuade you any further I’ll take you back to days of Afghanistan war in the late 70s. Scenario: the cold war between two blocks (heads), the Soviet interest in Afghanistan and the American itch at Soviet’s potential victory. America tries to be over clever as always and throws in the Islamic extremist factor with Osama bin Laden and Taliban. These CIA created and funded war-tools managed to gather support of Muslims globally. Two decades later Afghanistan is still an itch in America’s throat, but for different reasons. If Soviet didn’t manage to win it over neither did the United States of America. This time Osama bin Laden and Taliban are the declared enemy. Make them then break them, the long standing war strategy of this bully that we have no choice but to make believe as a friend. This choice has reasons that the presidency and the premiership of Pakistan understand best or maybe they habitually need imaginary friends. Since America is nothing but an imaginary friend to Pakistan for me
US is the self-proclaimed guardian of this world, more of a bully we can do without definitely. The current world scenario reminds me of kindergarten days. The mess, the noise, the trying to clean up the mess making a bigger mess, the one overgrown child who is too big for his own shoes trying to intimidate the rest, and the constant conflict.

This war on terror was declared as an American initiative after they were personally wounded in 9/11. Now they have very conveniently unloaded their revenge seeking on Pakistan’s struggling economy. In the name of donations and loans they make sure the war stays ongoing and totally current. Keep arresting ‘suspects’ in your Pakistan so we can keep sending more!

Another reason to go yay over this blessed commodore is this recent outbreak of rental power plants mania. Deaf to everything everyone else has to say and ignorant of all ‘special reports’ being prepared on the subject our dear cabinet has approved the rental plan. Our friends come use our land, use our resources, and sell electricity back to us at double the price. Strawberry topping is we have to buy complete production whether we need it or not. When they have sucked us wasted they pack up in five years and leave.

It definitely is the perfect solution for the current government. The load shedding stops once they become operative, they get to keep their ‘promise’. When their government finishes its tenure and the power plants are done with their deal too. The country is back in the dark ages.

Booming over the loudspeakers in rallies of yawning half dead audience would be this government’s, then government’s opposition, ranting about how we fixed the problem once the incapables are back so is the problem.

You and me in the Democracy!

Democracy is infamously advertised as the government of the people, by the people and for the people. It self expresses the role and importance of people in making this process successful. But in order to fulfill this role that you and me have been assigned we need to be fully aware about the functionalities of this system.

The understanding of the how, why and what of a democratic organization requires its residents to be educated to a lot of extent. Relevant education will definitely help them to more impartial in its decision making. The bigger the portion of uneducated people the more likely it is to fall prey to radical ideologies. These ideas might seem to offer solutions to social problems but a keener glance tells us how they unfairly tend to do it on the expense of a social group. Sometimes this suppression of a minority goes unnoticed since the majority is being spared.

Therefore it does come down to the masses how they define democracy in their country; it’s only if they have a relevant understanding of it themselves that they can make sure their government doesn’t exploit or misuse it. So instead of blaming your government blame yourself if your country is in a democratic mess since you have allowed things to go haywire, you have let your country take the plunge down. Thus it is up to you to give it a push up now.

*Yawn* I am done whining I have two hours of sleep time to avail in the air-conditioned bliss before Pepco or Wapda, whichever one it is now gets back at me…Many of the harsh realities we understand and we accept and sanction with out silent tolerance of them. As guilty as them we are!
